Infinix (info for all phones) »

Most Infinix phones don't come with the camera2 API or RAW enabled by default. Without this, Google Camera doesn't work.

The solution is often to use GCam Go instead as it doesn't require RAW photos.

If you use your phone unlocked/rooted, check the XDA-developers forums or search on Telegram for the name of your phone. Usually there are threads/groups with information and with Magisk modules that fix this problem, allowing you to use normal GCam apps.

Regular GCam doesn't work, but GCam Go does. Two versions, tested on LineageOS 18 (Android 11):

  • GCamGo_GreatnessNS2:
    • Not working: HDR, Night Mode, Flash (in dark places).
    • Working: Portrait, face enhance/smoothing, text translation.

Is it better than an app like Open Camera? I don't know, you'll have to test, compare the results, and decide yourself.

Regular GCam doesn't work, but GCam Go does. Two versions, tested on LineageOS 17 (Android 10):

  • CameraGo_2.5_Greatness_Special-2:
    • Working: HDR, night mode, portrait, face enhance/smoothing, text translation.
    • Not working: Flash (in the dark), video (crashes the phone), HDR in front camera.
    • Downsides: HDR takes a few seconds to process the file, resulting in a delay. You also can't use it for video.
  • Camera_Go_1.8.3_Wichaya:
    • Working: Video, night mode, portrait, face enhance/smoothing, text translation.
    • Not working: Flash (in the dark).
    • Downsides: No HDR, so photos don't look as good. On the other hand, it's fast and video works.
