GCam Talks is a series of short interviews with some of the people modding GCam. This time R.j talked with Urnyx05, creator of some of the most popular versions available.
R.j: Which is the best device or brand to work with gcam?
Urnyx05: In general, the best brands to mod GCam are those ones which use the least number of workarounds and the highest amount of code from Qualcomm. According to my experience, the easiest ones are OP3, Mi9 and HTC U11.
R.j: Which is the worst?
Urnyx05: The worst devices to mod GCam are those ones whose sensors have dots (like Oneplus 5) or require buffer fix (even if this problem can be fixed with root and a modified system library).
R.j: What things do you consider before getting any device?
Urnyx05: I usually ask someone else (who has already bought the smartphone I’m interested at) to test my GCam. In this way, I realize if there are some main issues.
R.j: What made you interested in becoming a gcam dev?
Urnyx05: I wanted to fix GCam for my device by my own.
R.j: What is your opinion on kangers?
Urnyx05: I think the most important rule of any software is giving proper credits to the devs who made a specific patch or included a particular feature.
